In The Community

In addition to exciting programming in Helzberg Hall, the Kansas City Symphony extends its reach into the community with programs including the Instrument Petting Zoo and Support School Music.  These programs allow people throughout the community experience hands on access to the KCS.

The Kansas City Symphony Instrument Petting Zoo travels to area classrooms to give elementary students the opportunity to see and hear the different instruments of the orchestra – up close and personal!

Because of extensive demand for this engaging program, it is preferred that second, third, and fourth grade students have the first opportunity to receive its benefits. Visits to classrooms are available for either morning or afternoon during one of the seven weeks listed.

The Kansas City Symphony presents a unique program valuable not only to participating school districts, but to communities as well. The Kansas City Symphony takes residency in your school district for 1-2 days rehearsing as an ensemble, meeting with students in small group breakout sessions, and performing an open rehearsal for students, all of which culminates with an evening performance.
